The School of Public Health at West Virginia University has a vested interest in risk-taking behaviors and promotion of safe practices as they relate to alcohol consumption. Research and education within the department focus on the physical, psychological, and social effects of alcohol-related behaviors and how they impact lives.
Each year on campus, alcohol awareness campaigns are executed by faculty and staff to promote safe drinking and educate students on the risks involved in their drinking decisions. Annual campaigns, such as the DUI simulator which stresses the body's inability to drive safely while intoxicated and Angels on High Street, where volunteers distribute date rape coasters, personal breathalyzers, and condoms to students enjoying the downtown nightlife, are part of a comprehensive approach to keeping our students safe.
