Annual WVU ICRC Awards

As part of our mission, the Education and Training Core of the WVU Injury Control Research Center has established an Outstanding Student Research Award and a Student Travel Award, to recognize excellence in injury and violence research among our students.  The Center has also established a Faculty Teaching Award to recognize excellence in teaching injury and violence prevention among our faculty.

Outstanding Student Research Award –will be bestowed upon a graduate student who has demonstrated excellence in scholastic activity, academic performance, and overall achievement in research in any area of injury and /or violence prevention and control.  The recipient of this award will receive a one-year paid membership to the professional organization of his or her choice, such as the Society for the Advancement of Violence and Injury Research (SAVIR).   

Student Travel Award –will be bestowed upon a graduate student who is traveling to a national injury-related conference to present his or her research related to injury and/or violence prevention and control. The student must be the presenter at the conference and be the first author on the research presented.  The recipient of this award will be reimbursed up to $500 for the cost of travel.

Faculty Teaching Award–will be bestowed upon a member of the faculty affiliated with the Center who has demonstrated excellence in teaching and/or mentoring related to injury and violence prevention and control.  Nominations for this award can be made by either students or other members of the faculty.
