On behalf of the West Virginia University Injury Control Research Center’s (ICRC) Director, Dr. Robert Bossarte, and Principal Investigator, Dr. Jeffrey Coben, we are pleased to invite ICRC affiliated faculty to submit proposals for research projects to be conducted as part of ICRC-funded activities during the fiscal years 2018-2019.  If not an affiliate faculty, we encourage you to submit your idea, however if funded, you will agree to accept the terms and conditions of affiliation with our center.  Interested investigators should prepare a two- to three-page letter of intent describing the project’s objectives, setting, research team and projected cost. Based on current guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, we anticipate support will be available for two to three R03- or R21-scale projects over the two-year period. Proposed projects may be one to two years in length with total annual cost between $50,000-$200,000. Proposed projects should address areas of ICRC activities, funded during the last five years (e.g., opioid/opiate overdose prevention, motor-vehicle-related deaths and injuries, falls among older persons, suicide prevention, intimate partner violence), be consistent with research priorities identified by the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, and focus on implementation/translational science or the impact of policy change/implementation. Letters of intent should be submitted electronically to Mr. Dave Fulaytar (dfulaytar@hsc.wvu.edu) by June 30, 2016. Investigators of selected projects will be notified by July 8, 2016 and full proposals will be due by August 5, 2016. Guidance on formatting requirements for full proposals will be provided to selected investigators as it becomes available from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Questions about proposed projects or ICRC priorities should be directed Dr. Robert Bossarte (rbossarte@hsc.wvu.edu) or the ICRC Deputy Director, Mr. Herbert Linn (hlinn2@hsc.wvu.edu).
