Gao joins School of Public Health as department chair

Weimin Gao, BM, MPH, MS, PhD, has joined the WVU School of Public Health as Chair of the Department of Occupational and Environmental Health Sciences. Dr. Gao most recently served as a tenured associate professor and associate chair in the Department of Environmental Toxicology and the Institute of Environmental and Human Health at Texas Tech University and Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. He earned his BM in Preventive Medicine and MPH in Occupational Medicine and Toxicology in China and his MS in Biostatistics and PhD in Environmental and Occupational Health from the University of Pittsburgh.

Dr. Gao joined Texas Tech in 2006 as an assistant professor and focused his efforts on teaching core courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, developing current topic seminar courses, and co-lecturing advanced topics in graduate-level courses. His current research focuses on human health, including molecular toxicology, occupational and environmental health, carcinogenesis, cancer targeted therapy, cancer chemoprevention, molecular epidemiology and biomarkers.
