Oversees Student Affairs for the School of Public Health and teaches in the Department of Social & Behavioral Sciences.

Dr. Kershner is affiliated with the West Virginia University School of Public Health. She teaches in both the undergraduate and graduate programs in school, and public health. She is a registered nurse, certified as a teacher in school health, and is nationally credentialed as a master health education specialist. She has presented at local, state, national, and international conferences about health concerns and violence in the lives of women and numerous other health-related topics. She has been twice been recognized as one of Monongalia County’s Most Influential People. She has been inducted into Mountain and the West Virginia School of Medicine: Academy of Teachers and Scholars Other recognition for her teaching skills and service-related efforts including the West Virginia Health Education Teacher of the Year, the Robert C. Byrd School of Medicine Distinguished Teacher Award (twice), the West Virginia Health Education Council Innovative Health Programming Award, the PATCH Health Advocacy Award, the June Harless Award for Exceptional Teaching, the Midwest District AAHPERD Health Education Teacher of the Year, the Roy Duncan Award, the WVU School of Medicine Dean’s Award for Community Service, the West Virginia Faculty Merit Foundation award, the WVAHPERD Honor award for service and inspiration, the American Association of Health Education University Professor of the Year Award and the West Virginia Carnegie Award for Teaching.
