WV DHHR Summer Internship Opportunity

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources is hiring a summer intern to serve in the Cabinet Secretary’s office, located in Charleston, West Virginia. This is a paid position and best suited for graduate or undergraduate students with interests in data, health care policy or social services. The internship provides the opportunity to work with state agency officials and to engage in the operations of state government. The intern will gain valuable exposure to the array of work and value of a career in public service.

The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources (DHHR) provides a wide range of necessary and life-saving services to West Virginia residents. DHHR also works to protect West Virginia’s youngest and most vulnerable citizens.

DHHR is comprised of the Bureau for Behavioral Health and Health Facilities; Bureau for Child Support Enforcement; Bureau for Children and Families; Bureau for Medical Services; Bureau for Public Health; Office of Inspector General; and West Virginia Children’s Health Insurance Program (WV CHIP). DHHR provides services in all 55 counties through a dedicated staff of nearly 6,000 individuals. To be eligible for this experience, candidates must be currently enrolled as a graduate or undergraduate student in an accredited post-secondary institution and have completed at least one year of undergraduate education. This is a summer-only internship position and will begin late May/early June.
