Destination Dentistry for prospective WVU students to be held March 28
The West Virginia University School of Dentistry invites pre-dental college students to visit campus for Destination Dentistry on Saturday, March 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Destination Dentistry is a full-day open house at the WVU Health Sciences Center in Morgantown that provides prospective students with the opportunity to experience a day as a student in the Doctor of Dental Surgery program.
Online registration will open Feb. 1. Attendance is free and limited to 40 participants to ensure personalized attention and to closely mimic the size of a typical DDS cohort at WVU.
“A career in dentistry is truly rewarding, and we’re proud at the WVU School of Dentistry to provide students with a comprehensive education and extensive hands-on experiences that prepare them to make a difference in the communities they will serve,” Dr. Jonathan Abraham, interim associate dean of dental admissions, recruitment and access, said. “Destination Dentistry is a great opportunity for prospective students to get a glimpse into dental school and the courses they’ll take to become highly skilled, compassionate clinicians and life as a Mountaineer. Let’s Go!”
Throughout the day, attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the academic program, patient care experiences, career opportunities, admissions requirements and the application process. They will also participate in hands-on activities in the school’s dedicated dental student simulation lab and visit the state-of-the-art, interprofessional Simulation Training and Education for Patient Safety (STEPS) Center. Attendees will engage with current students and expert faculty in each session.
