SPH Epidemiology Student Receives One of Four CDC/ASPPH Public Health Fellowships

MPH candidate, Katelynn Weber has been accepted into the ASPPH/CDC Public Health Fellowship Program.  She will be working as a BRFSS Data Analyst in the Division of Respiratory Disease Studies, Surveillance Branch at NIOSH in Morgantown, WV.  

“I am so excited to have this opportunity for employment in a position that challenges my skill set and allows me to not only utilize my education, but build upon and challenge it,” Katelynn says. 

“This CDC/ASPPH fellowship at NIOSH will provide me with the experience and professional development that I am seeking post-graduation in order to prepare me for a strong future in public health."

"I am also getting married in October, so I am very happy to be able to remain close to both families.  The job market in epidemiology is very competitive and would have most likely required relocation much further from our families.” 

Katelynn has been working with Dr. Baqiyyah Conway with research involving cardiovascular risk and metabolic syndrome among overweight and obese children and adolescents.

In 2012, Katelynn was the recipient of the Bippin Avashia Scholarship which is a merit-based award for students enrolled in the Master of Public Health program.
