WVU in the News: WVU continues student-based outreach for Morgantown unsheltered population

Mike McCawley, PhD, clinical associate professor in the School of Public Health's Department of Occupational and Environmental Health Sciences, was interviewed by WAJR on the Multidisciplinary UnSheltered Homeless Relief Outreach of Morgantown (MUSHROOM). Housed in the School of Medicine the initiative aims to bring medical care providers, social workers, and other health professionals together to volunteer to serve the less fortunate in the community.

“When people from the community are coming along, these are no longer just people who are sitting on the street corner asking for a handout,” said McCawley. “These are real people; these are your neighbors,” he said.
