School of Public Health recognized for engagement with health administration, health policy education community

The West Virginia University School of Public Health has been recognized by the Association of University Programs in Health Administration for its outstanding faculty engagement and leadership.

Recognized as the 2021 recipient of the Award for Engagement with AUPHA – New Program Member, the School of Public Health was one of more than two dozen programs considered for the award.

“We’re honored to be recognized by AUPHA, an organization dedicated to the improvement of health and healthcare delivery through excellence in healthcare management and policy education,” said Erik Carlton, DrPH, associate dean for professional programs. “This award affirms our shared vision with AUPHA and reflects our commitment to excellence in health administration education.”

Consideration for the award is driven by cumulative faculty participation in AUPHA within a single year, including participation in meetings, networking activities, forums, and publishing in the Journal of Health Administration Education.

Awardees must also be a new member (i.e., AUPHA program member for five (5) years or less). The School of Public Health joined AUPHA last spring.

“We are extremely pleased to have both the undergraduate and masters programs at WVU as academic members in AUPHA,” said Daniel Gentry, PhD, MHA, president and CEO of AUPHA. “It is very impressive that within one year of formally joining AUPHA, WVU is being recognized for this outstanding level of engagement with the health administration and health policy education community. For me, personally, it’s been a distinct pleasure getting to know the strongly committed and enthusiastic faculty at WVU this past year.”

The School of Public Health will be formally recognized during the virtual AUPHA Annual Meeting in June.
