Biostatistics seminar series kicks off September 12

Michael E. Andrew, PhD, Chief of Biostatistics & Epidemiology Branch of the Health Effects Laboratory Division at NIOSH Morgantown, will present “The Study of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Effects of Stress in Police” on Wednesday, September 12 at 11:00 am in Erma Byrd room 101.

This presentation includes a brief, non-technical introduction to the study of cardiovascular and metabolic effects of stress in police officers. Emphasis will be placed on measurements that assess hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis function and autonomic nervous system (ANS) function as outcomes that are potentially related to exposure to police work stressors. Unique challenges in statistical analysis of these data will be briefly discussed.
