Day of Giving results for School of Public Health

Thanks to the support of alumni and friends, faculty, staff, and students, the School of Public Health raised a total $26,835 from 73 gifts during WVU’s fifth Day of Giving.

"I couldn't be more grateful for the support from our Public Health family," Dean Jeffrey Coben said. "As our school grows, our impact will continue to expand, and donor support plays a critical role throughout that process. In addition to empowering us, it inspires us, and we're grateful for the opportunity it provides to continue fulfilling our mission to serve our students and our state."

This year, participation was bolstered by a first-time School of Public Health Participation Challenge that was fulfilled, thanks to gifts from the first 50 donors who supported the school. Established through the generosity of members of the SPH Leadership Council, MHA Advisory Council and SPH Administrative team, the challenge unlocked an additional $10,000 gift to the School. "I have two daughters who chose to attend WVU and are both in the School of Public Health," said Douglass Harrison, MHA Advisory Council member and president and CEO of WVU Medicine Wheeling Hospital and Reynolds Memorial Hospital. "One is a graduate student in the MHA program and the other is an undergrad. The value of the education they are receiving is outstanding. The faculty are wonderful and truly take an interest in their students."

Overall, WVU supporters gave a record $15.5 million during the 24-hour online fundraising event held across the University system. Read the full story here
