Expect a new experience when your version of Microsoft Office is updated Monday, July 15

All Health Sciences Center computers that are still running a 2019 version of Microsoft Office will be updated to a more modern version starting Monday, July 15. Office tools will work the same way when this update is complete but look different.

This update will download in the background while you are working and won’t disrupt your productivity. The installation will complete only after you close your applications and/or reboot your computer. Classroom and lab computers are being excluded from this update for now.

This change will ensure that HSC employees are on the same software version and monthly update cycle as the rest of WVU before Microsoft ends support for the older software in October 2025. This change also will result in more frequent feature updates that are smaller and less noticeable.

Employees with the School of Dentistry and STEPS have piloted newer versions of Microsoft Office since May 20 and have reported no problems or disruptions. If you do have problems with the software after the July 15 update, call 304-293-3631 for assistance.
