"Now More Than Ever" WVU Campus United Way Campaign

Annual campaign to run October 1-30, 2020

Last week, all of the United Way Campus Campaign ambassadors met via zoom to begin the kick off of this year’s campaign: “Now More Than Ever.”

The United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties campaign began September 9, and will end in December 2020. WVU’s campaign began October 1 and will end October 30. WVU’s goal is $200,000. Over the last 10 years, WVU’s campaigns have raised between $215K and $315K a year. We have ranged in employee participation rates from 22% to more recent years of 7%, so we clearly have our work cut out for us this year!

How can you donate?

  • A one-time payroll deduction of any amount or a minimum of $1/pay for 26 pay cycles.
  • Online at unitedwaympc.org/give*
  • Text NOW2021 to 41444*
  • Via mail, using the United Way pledge card, which you can return to: United Way Campaign, PO BOX 6201, Morgantown, WV 26506; to the United Way at 278C Spruce Street, Morgantown, WV 26505 or email Lauren Tennant at letennant@mix.wvu.edu to arrange for a pick up.

*You will be asked for your employer information so WVU is sure to get credited for your gift

Fascinating Facts

  • $5 = a backpack of food for a kid over the weekend
  • $10 = round-trip travel to a person for a medical appointment
  • $25 = one book a month for a child from birth to five years old
  • $50 = one week’s worth of groceries for a family of four
  • $80 = utilities for a family for one month
  • $100 = five weeks of before/after school care for a child

If you can’t give monetarily, here are a few other ways that you can help:

  • Go to smile.amazon.com and list “United Way of Monongalia and Preston Counties, Inc.” as the charity of your choice. A portion of the money you spend at Amazon will be donated to our local United Way when you place your order through smile.amazon.com.
  • Volunteer for Helpful Harvest from 10-3 on Thursday and Fridays to help organize fruits, vegetables and dry goods for pantries to pick up and distribute. Email servando@unitedwaympc.org for more information.
  • Sign-up to participate in the Spooky Sprint 5K Run/Walk www.unitedwaympc.org/ spookysprint.
  • Buy tickets for the Give To Win Raffle/50-50 or bid on the Auction at www.unitedwaympc.org/givetowin.
