A look back...

High schoolers from around the state have fun while learning during the Health Sciences & Technology Academy Biomedical Camp. This group, led by School of Public Health faculty member Baqiyyah Conway, looked at obesity rates in males versus females.

 

Dr. Christiaan Abildso, interim co-director of the Health Research Center, captures a shot of Chapman's Peak during sundown at Hout Bay, a town near Cape Town. Abildso helped lead an Adventure WV trip to South Africa, Swaziland and Lesotho in July. Students learned about the social, psychological and cultural aspects of physical activity and health in these countries as they explored and participated in service projects to support local initiatives.

The exercise was part of the Summer Workshop for Instructors of Undergraduate Courses organized by Assistant Dean for Program Development and Operations Janet Hunt. The workshop included sessions on applied learning techniques and assessment, experiential connections with Adventure WV, a demo of the TOP HAT teaching platform and an undergraduate program update.
