Public Health PhD candidate seeking student study participants

Samantha Moyers, PhD Candidate in Public Health, is launching a randomized controlled trial exploring the impacts of nature exposure on clinical student stress.

Enrollment is open to all Morgantown-based HSC students in clinical degree programs.

Do you experience stress throughout the academic year? The ForeST Study is now enrolling clinical students from all HSC disciplines to participate in a randomized controlled research study to see if nature-based activities are feasible and effective in managing stress.

Half of the interested individuals will be randomly assigned to the forest activity group, while the other half will be randomly assigned to the no-activity control group. Over the course of six weeks, individuals in the forest activity group will be asked to attend one, one-hour session per week at the Core Arboretum, adjacent to the Coliseum. All participants will be asked to complete a series of four online surveys to report on their experiences throughout the study.

The WVU Institutional Review Board’s acknowledgement is on file. If you have any questions about this research project, please feel free to contact Samantha Moyers at 304-644-0733 or by email at smoyers2@hsc.wvu.edu or principal investigator Dr. Christiaan Abildso at cgabildso@hsc.wvu.edu.
