School of Public Health faculty to develop inaugural course for AUPHA’s Art of Teaching Institute

The Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) has selected Heather Henderson, MA, EdD, and Steve Davis, MSW, MPA, PhD, from the West Virginia University School of Public Health department of Health Policy, Management and Leadership to develop the first of seven inaugural courses for the Art of Teaching Institute (ATI).

ATI will be providing virtual and in-person professional development in teaching practice for all levels of learners. Henderson and Davis will be developing the first of these seven courses titled “So You Want to Teach? The Anatomy of a Course.”

Dr. Erik Carlton (DrPH), senior associate dean for academic and student affairs, said that this selection shows that the School of Public Health is a leader in the field of healthcare administration education.

“Drs. Henderson and Davis will be among a select group of scholar-teachers developing these courses which will lift the entire field of health administration education,” he said. “We could not be more thrilled that they were accepted to participate in the institute, let alone to create the first course.”
