WVU in the News: WV symposium focuses on collaborative approach between researchers, lawmakers in substance abuse policymaking

Challenges and opportunities in addressing substance use disorder in the state were central topics during a symposium that aims to address the disconnect between researchers and West Virginia legislators and policy implementers tasked with creating and carrying out public health policy.

The West Virginia University School of Public Health’s WV Policy and Research Engagement Symposium brought together lawmakers, researchers, treatment providers, public health officials, insurance providers and others from across the state and nation at Stonewall Resort Tuesday in an attempt to bridge the divide between lawmakers and health-care practitioners and researchers.
