Teach for OLLI

OLLI at WVU depends on the generosity of our volunteer instructors to teach the quality classes and learning experiences offered throughout the year.  Drawn from all walks of life, many OLLI instructors are current and retired teachers, university professors and administrators, business and civic leaders, and other professionals from the community who wish to share their knowledge and passion. Others are enthusiasts who share their interests, hobbies, or avocations.

Free from tests or grades, instructors experience the joy of teaching students who are enthusiastic, engaged, and eager to learn.

OLLI offers a variety of classes, including the arts, literature, history, philosophy and religion, current events, political affairs, science, math, health and wellness, and more for our campuses in Morgantown and Kanawha Valley.

Classrooms

Most in-person classes in Morgantown are held in our space at the Mountaineer Mall at 5000 Green Bag Rd. Classes in the Kanawha Valley are held at various locations around Charleston. Other locations can be arranged upon request.

Schedule

Classes are held during four eight-week terms for one to eight sessions. Special interest groups may meet year-round. Although scheduling is flexible, classes generally meet for 60 minutes to 2 hours, Monday through Friday, between 10:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Evening and weekend classes can be arranged as well.

In the spirit of inclusion, OLLI has chosen to honor and observe the following holidays in addition to traditional Christian and national holidays on which WVU is closed. Although the office will be open, we will try not to schedule classes or other events on these days.

  • Rosh Hashanah
  • Yom Kippur
  • Eid al-Fitr
  • Juneteenth (this is now a federal holiday)
  • Diwali
  • Vesak

Non-Solicitation Policy

As a volunteer organization, OLLI at WVU greatly appreciates the generous donation of time and talent by our instructors and respects their right to academic freedom in preparing their courses. OLLI courses are intended to be learning experiences for our members, offered for the sake of expanding their horizons. Courses are not intended to be commercial or client recruiting opportunities for business products and services.
